A heroine who epitomised the ideals of American feminism. At the age of 34 she was a pioneer, the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, setting many solo records and receiving many accolades.

On July 2, 1937, her daring round-the-world-flight was cut short when her Lockheed Electra disappeared over the Pacific Ocean. No trace of Earhart was ever found, a living legend had vanished into thin air doing the thing she loved most - flying.

Amelia Earhart's final words - "Fuel is running low. Been unable to reach you by radio. We are flying at 1,000 feet"
