King Cetshwayo's warriors formed a fearsome and highly disciplined force, undeterred by enemy fire and adept at swift, strategic maneuvers. In August 1879, the British captured King Cetshwayo, effectively bring the war to an end. Cetshwayo was sent into exile. He was later allowed to return to Zululand, where he died in 1884.
