Reginald Mitchell

Reginald battled pain and despair to complete the

spitfire in time to defend Britain against invasion. Designed as a short-range, high performance interceptor aircraft with the ability to outperform its German  rivals. He literally worked himself to death!  We owe Mitchell a great debt of gratitude.
