"Anyone who thinks science is trying to make human

life easier or more pleasant is utterly mistaken."

Einstein graduated in 1900 from the ETH Zurich with a degree in physics, but struggled to find work as a teacher. 1902, a friend helped get him a job at the Swiss Patent Office in Bern as a low-level administrator. It is here, while daydreaming at work, a sudden thought occurs to him, "If a person falls freely he will not feel his own weight."  Startled, his theory of relativity was born. He went on to receive worldwide acclaim for his work in theoretical physics and in 1921 was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics.
