Key locations and the route taken by British forces during the Falklands War

 

The British Army faced limitations on what forces could be committed. Of the 160,000 soldiers in the regular Army, 55,000 were in Germany facing down the threat from the Warsaw Pact. There were 11,000 troops serving in Northern Ireland and other garrisons were based Berlin, Hong Kong,

Gibraltar, Belize, Brunei and Cyprus.
