Football origins can be traced back to 'Cuju' in China. In the UK between 1314-1818 many attempts were made to suppress and ban 'mob' football from Edward II to George III. But its popularity continued to grow.  In 1863, the first Football Association was founded in England, firmly establishing the rules of the game and making England the home of modern football. China has ambitious plans for football and could tilt the global game on its axis by 2020, with growing legions of adoring fans.
