I've spent most of my life golfing - the rest I've just wasted!

"Golf is a game whose aim is to hit a very small ball into an even smaller hole, with weapons singularly ill-designed for the purpose" Winston Churchill

The origins of golf can be traced back to stick and ball games in Ancient Egypt. The first official mention of the word 'golf' is in Edinburgh in 1457, when King James II banned 'ye golf', in an attempt to preserve the skills of archery. The modern game of golf is generally considered a Scottish invention.

clearly originated in Scotland!"
