Lyons had been planning on making a modern gramophone, but then he saw the Swallow. Instantly,

he could see ways of making it more cost effective and in greater quantities, without compromising its appeal.

In 1922 the Swallow Side Car Company was formed.  In 1945, post WWII, he changed its name to Jaguar to avoid negative connotations with the initials SS.

In 2008, Jaguar sold out to Tata Motors, based in India, the world's 4th largest truck manufacturer and 3rd largest bus manufacturer.
