Callas, the incredible Greek Soprano, was instrumental in revitalising opera with her dramatic skill, range and technique that left audiences spellbound.

She enjoyed a 9 year love affair with Aristotle Onassis, but it ended badly in 1968, as he cast her aside to marry Jacqueline Kennedy, a blow from which she never recovered.

She died of a heart attack in 1977, dramatic to the very end.
