Magna Carta not only laid the foundation of English Democracy and Justice, it became the source of inspiration and motivation for other countries, including: America, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, India, Pakistan and Japan, to name a few. Following the atrocities of WWII, it inspired Eleanor Roosevelt's legacy: 'The Universal Declaration of Human Rights'.

Rebel barons took up arms and clipped the wings of King John at Runnymede, an ancient Anglo-Saxon meeting place, on June 15th, 1215. King John was forced, kicking and screaming, to agree a peace treaty, known as the Magna Carta, and by doing so, established the principle that everybody, including the King, was subject to the law. Ironic that King John and his barons were unwitting instigators and defenders of human rights!

"Magna Carta, England's greatest export."
