King George II became the second of the Hanoverian monarchs of Great Britain, and like his father George I,

he faced a Jacobite rebellion to restore the Stuart line.

At the age of 60, he became the last reigning monarch

to lead the British Army into battle against the French

at Dettingen in 1743.
