Popular history has made a hero of Fletcher Christian, numerous films have portrayed Bligh

as the heartless commander (villain), and most of the books, articles and documentaries have

focussed on the romantic and myth of the South Seas story. While Christian has been played

in films by sex symbols like Errol Flynn, Marlon Brando and Mel Gibson. Bligh has been

portrayed by Trevor Howard, Charles Laughton and Anthony Hopkins, as a man in his 60's,

when he was in fact only 33.
