Traditionally depicted as being dressed in Lincoln green, he is often portrayed as "robbing from the rich and giving to the poor" – does this remind you of any politicians today!!! – as he battled with his arch enemy the Sheriff of Nottingham alongside his band of "Merry Men" which according to the legend included his friends Maid Marian, Friar Tuck and Little John.

Robin Hood became a popular folk figure in the late-medieval period, and continues to this day to be widely represented in literature, films and television.

Robin Hood, Friar Tuck and Little John  were obviously dreaming in 1215 that you had to steal from the rich to give to the poor. Maybe these characters weren’t even real, but it’s a lovely story!

An unbelievable fact from 1215:

If you owed the King money, and you didn’t pay, they killed you!
