Timeless dance of words across the ages

William Shakespeare

(1564 - 1616)

400 years on, William Shakespeare remains one of the greatest writers

in the English language. He holds the record for the bestselling playwright, with over 4 billion copies of his plays and poetry sold worldwide; most

filmed author, with over 1,120 writing credits on film and television; and

3rd most translated author in history.

it’s said that a Shakespeare play is being performed

somewhere in the world every minute of every day.

The plague was rife during his time, closing theatres and ravaging life.

During the lockdown of 1606, whilst self-isolating, it's believed he

penned Macbeth, Antony and Cleopatra and King Lear. Has any

writer ever had more productive year...in or out of lockdown.
