First patented by Scotsman Robert William Thomson in 1845, known as 'aerial wheels' for horse drawn carriages, but they didn't catch on. 43 years later, along comes another Scotsman, Dunlop a vet living in Belfast, who creates a pneumatic tyre for bicycles, to give his son a better cycling experience and prevent his headaches.
