Sir Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill served as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1945 and again from 1951 to 1955. Churchill led Britain to victory over Nazi Germany during World War II. He was also an officer in the British Army, a non-academic historian, and a writer. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1953.
